A Closer Walk goes global on World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day on Monday, December 1, 2003, was an important gratifying day for all of us in the Closer Walk family! A Closer Walk’s compassionate call-to-action for ordinary people to work together to help put an end to the worst public health crisis in human history had a truly global reach this World AIDS Day.
Taking the airwaves, excerpts of the film were featured to a global audience of millions of viewers on the Oprah Winfrey Show’s World AIDS Day special. In America’s capital, the United Nations Association screened the film at the Visions Cinema. In Nigeria and other foreign capitals, screenings of the film were sponsored by the US State Department for government officials, journalists, educators, and NGO representatives. In New York City, a special screening was held at The Asia Society, sponsored by General Motors and more than a dozen of the world’s most prominent AIDS organizations.
Whether on college campuses, in NGO offices, on national television networks, in corporate headquarters and screening rooms, or in movie theatres, A Closer Walk is helping to create awareness and inspire the human response that will ultimately put an end to this global pandemic.
Many thanks and congratulations to one and all! The revolution is gathering momentum!
